Kendrick Lamar Unveils Surprise Album ‘GNX’
Kendrick Lamar has just released new music.
The acclaimed rapper surprised fans with his latest album, “GNX,” which features 12 tracks and was dropped on Friday. This marks his first full studio album since 2022, and the announcement caught many off guard. Only minutes before the album launched, Lamar shared a teaser video for the title track.
Once known for his rapid-fire verses that garnered him fame in the 2010s, Lamar has recently been keeping a low profile.
“GNX” had minimal promotional effort leading up to its release. Apple Music describes the album simply as, “He asked us to ‘watch the party die,’ but only so he could resurrect it.”
The album artwork showcases a striking black-and-white photo of Lamar leaning against a car, presumably a GNX.
The opening track, “Wacced Out Murals,” includes the line, “Riding in my GNX with Anita Baker in the tank,” referencing a high-performance Buick model.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning artist recently enjoyed success with “Not Like Us,” a diss track related to a well-publicized feud with Drake.
This dispute began in April when Drake released two tracks aimed directly at Lamar: “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle.” Lamar responded with tracks “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA,” igniting an ongoing back-and-forth where both artists exchanged tracks filled with insults and various accusations.
This energetic exchange has certainly brought more attention to their rivalry, although the two artists have had tension under the surface for years.
Lamar will also headline this year’s Super Bowl Halftime show in New Orleans.
‘GNX’ Tracklist by Kendrick Lamar
- “Wacced out Murals”
- “Squabble Up”
- “Luther”
- “Man at the Garden”
- “Hey Now”
- “Reincarnated”
- “TV Off”
- “Dodger Blue”
- “Peekaboo”
- “Heart pt. 6”
- “GNX”
- “Gloria”
Notably, “Not Like Us” is missing from the album, indicating that it was intended solely as a standalone release linked to the feud.
Track 10, “Heart pt. 6,” could serve as a strategic move in the Kendrick-Drake rivalry. Lamar has a series of songs called “The Heart,” with the fifth part released in 2022. Amid their 2024 conflict, Drake dropped a diss track named “The Heart Part 6,” which was criticized so heavily that he removed the promotional post from Instagram.
Lamar’s latest track might either be a clever jab or simply an extension of his “The Heart” series as intended.
