Kim Kardashian showcases Princess Diana’s pendant at LACMA Art+Film Gala
Kim Kardashian is catching attention again with her choice of jewelry on the red carpet.
The 44-year-old star of “The Kardashians” made an appearance at the 13th annual Art+Film Gala held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Saturday, donning a cross pendant that once belonged to Princess Diana. Kardashian secured this unique piece, featuring square-cut amethysts, for the sum of $197,453 at an auction last year.
This striking pendant was designed in the 1920s and was famously worn by the late Princess of Wales during a charity event in 1987.
A statement at the time noted, “The cross was exclusively worn by the Princess, and after her passing, it was not seen in public until now.”
Jewelry expert Kristian Spofforth from Sotheby’s London remarked previously, “In many ways, this unique pendant reflects the growing confidence of the Princess in her fashion and jewelry selections during that period of her life.”
Kardashian completed her ensemble with a bespoke white dress from Gucci, a Tallarico pearl choker, and a Bvlgari necklace adorned with pearls and diamonds, as noted in a release.
The founder of Skims made headlines in 2022 when she attended the Met Gala wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe donned while singing “Happy Birthday” to John F. Kennedy in 1962. This dress was loaned to her by Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, which later clarified that Kardashian did not damage it.
Amanda Joiner, Ripley’s VP of Publishing and Online Marketing, stated, “From the point Kim put on the dress at the Met to when it was returned, it remained in the same condition as when it was first worn.”
Other celebrities, such as Blake Lively and Viola Davis, also attended the LACMA Art+Film Gala, which honored artist Simone Leigh and director Baz Luhrmann, featuring a performance by Charli XCX.
