Kirsten Dunst Performs ‘Bring It On’ Cheer in Surprise Appearance During Movie Screening: Watch
Kirsten Dunst is taking us back to the nostalgia of the early 2000s.
The “Spider-Man” actress, aged 42, made a surprise appearance on Saturday at a screening of her iconic cheerleading film “Bring It On,” and even after more than two decades, she remembered the cheers.
In an Instagram video Dunst posted, she can be seen clapping along and reciting the famous cheer that opens the film, which premiered in 2000.
Another clip shared on TikTok captured the actress speaking at the Los Angeles screening, which featured “Bring It On” alongside her other movie, Sofia Coppola’s “The Virgin Suicides.”
“I’m T-T-Torrance!” Dunst cheerfully announced to the audience, quoting her character. “Your captain Torrance!”
Dunst played the role of cheerleader Torrance Shipman in “Bring It On,” alongside Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union. She expressed to the enthusiastic crowd that she felt “so overwhelmed” and was joined by her friends and family to experience watching the films with an audience for the first time since her teenage years.
At just 17 years old, Dunst took on her role in “Bring It On,” which earned a whopping $90 million at the box office and led to several sequels. The film was directed by Peyton Reed, who later directed Marvel’s “Ant-Man” trilogy.
In an interview with “Good Morning America” earlier this year, Dunst mentioned she was “as surprised as anyone” about the colossal success of “Bring It On” and expressed her interest in a possible reunion.
“What am I going to say, no?” she remarked then. “It would just have to be an outstanding script because sometimes these things can be disappointing when they aren’t well done.”
Last year, Gabrielle Union hinted to Variety that “we’ve been working on a sequel” to “Bring It On,” though she was uncertain about its timeline. “For those who might not grasp how long it takes to develop projects in Hollywood, it could take five minutes or 50 years,” she joked.
Dunst recently appeared in the war drama “Civil War,” directed by Alex Garland, alongside her real-life spouse, Jesse Plemons. In 2022, she earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Power of the Dog.”
