Kristen Bell is set to host the 2025 SAG Awards on Netflix

Who claimed that “Nobody Wants This”? The SAG Awards certainly do!

Kicking off the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, Feb. 23, will be Kristen Bell, who recently received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the Netflix series “Nobody Wants This.” Netflix will, for the second consecutive year, broadcast the event live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

“I’m excited to host the SAG Awards again this year,” Bell expressed in a statement from the guild. “I feel honored to be invited back and I look forward to an evening of celebration with my fellow actors, as we recognize our work.”

Bell ended her statement with a cheerful smiley emoji.

When will the SAG Award nominations be announced?

This will be Bell’s second time hosting the awards, having previously done so in 2018, as she steps in after Idris Elba, who served as the unofficial host in 2024. The nominees for this year’s awards, which cover outstanding achievements in film and television, will be revealed on January 8 and are selected by the union’s members.

The latest Golden Globe nominations have raised hopes for this year’s SAG Awards, particularly for top Globe contenders like “Emilia Pérez,” which leads with ten nominations, followed by “The Brutalist” with seven, and “Conclave” with six. In the television category, FX’s “The Bear” stands out with five nominations, trailed by “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shōgun,” both with four.

Bell and her co-star Adam Brody from “Nobody Wants This” have reasons to feel hopeful as their show, which portrays the relationship between a rabbi and his gentile girlfriend, received three Globe nominations: for best musical or comedy TV series and individual acting nominations for both Brody and Bell. However, competition will be fierce; at last year’s SAG Awards, “The Bear” took home awards in all three categories they’re nominated for.

In recent years, SAG members have protested for various important issues, including fair pay and the use of artificial intelligence in the industry.

A notable strike in 2023 halted film and TV production for almost four months until agreements were made regarding critical digital rights.
