Ancient Meteorite Unveils Secrets of Liquid Water on Mars 742 Million Years Ago

An asteroid struck Mars 11 million years ago and sent pieces of the red planet hurtling through space. Lawyer for Officer in Tyreek Hill Incident Makes Statement

A police officer involved in the detainment of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been reassigned to “administrative duties” while the Miami-Dade Police Department looks into the matter.

The attorney representing the officer claims this decision was “rushed” and is calling for him to be reinstated to his regular position.

Attorneys Ignacio Alvarez and Israel Reyes said in a press release on Tuesday, “We demand our client’s immediate return to duty and a thorough, unbiased investigation, as Director Daniels has also suggested. Our client will remain silent until this inquiry is completed and all facts are disclosed.”

While the attorneys did not disclose their client’s name, the Miami-Dade Police Department revealed later that he is Danny Torres, who has served in the department for 27 years.

Miami-Dade police representatives have not yet responded to inquiries regarding the attorneys’ request to restore Torres to his former role.

Director Stephanie Daniels confirmed on Sunday that she had launched an investigation into Torres via the internal affairs division of the department. She emphasized her commitment to transparency and accountability regarding any issues involving her officers.

The incident involving Hill and the police occurred just outside Hard Rock Stadium, shortly before Hill and the Dolphins were set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in their opening game of the season. The actions of the officers have faced criticism, especially regarding their use of force during what seemed like a routine traffic stop.

On Monday night, Miami-Dade police shared over an hour of body camera footage from the incident, which captured officers forcibly removing Hill from his McLaren after he rolled up his window during the stop. They pulled him out of the car, laid him on the ground, and handcuffed him for over 15 minutes while he expressed discomfort regarding his knee.

Hill later admitted to the officers that he had been speeding but criticized their handling of the incident, particularly their decision to pull him from his vehicle and place him in cuffs. He was ultimately allowed to leave after receiving a citation for careless driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

“They said I was speeding, reckless driving or whatever,” Hill mentioned in a post-game press conference after achieving 130 receiving yards in Miami’s victory over the Jaguars. “I wasn’t raised like that to name drop. If you say I did something, just give me a ticket, but don’t treat me with disrespect.”
