LeBron James, the superstar of the Los Angeles Lakers, is adding to his record achievements in his 22nd NBA season after being selected for yet another All-Star Game.

The league announced its starting lineups for both the Western and Eastern Conferences on Thursday, naming James as a starter. This marks his 21st consecutive All-Star appearance and his 20th straight as a starter, setting a record according to Lakers communications. He will also become the first player aged 40 or older to start in an All-Star Game.

Last year, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to claim the record for most All-Star selections when he made his 20th appearance.

LeBron, along with nine other starters, was chosen based on a weighted voting system involving fans (50%), players (25%), and selected media (25%). Each NBA team’s starting lineup includes two guards and three forwards.

“Throughout NBA history, many well-known players get selected for the All-Star Game based on fan voting, and while they have performed well, LeBron is still playing at an elite level,” Lakers coach JJ Redick noted before the game against the Boston Celtics on Thursday. “He absolutely deserves this All-Star honor. I will definitely congratulate him, as this is just another achievement in what seems like an endless list of accolades.”

This season, he has been averaging 23.7 points, nine assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game, despite battling a left foot injury that has kept him on the injury report in recent days.
