Lizzo addresses Ozempic rumor, says she’s ‘fine both ways’ after weight loss
Lizzo feels “fine both ways” as she discusses her fitness journey.
On Friday, the “Truth Hurts” artist, 36, responded to speculation that her recent weight loss was due to Ozempic. She expressed her frustration in an Instagram video, saying, “After five months of weight training and calorie deficit, finally getting Ozempic allegations,” while putting her head in her hand and sighing.
Lizzo also posted a screenshot of a comment from a follower questioning her weight loss methods, asking, “Did she use Ozempic or did she snort coke?” To this, she responded, “whyyyy do u follow me?”
Earlier on Wednesday, Lizzo shared videos showcasing her weight loss, paired with a clip of Nicki Minaj saying, “The fact that you would even discuss my looks is insane.” She captioned it with, “FINE BOTH WAYS.”
In another post on Friday, Lizzo showcased her workout routine and stated, “I am NOT SKINNY, I’M FHICK,” meaning she embraces being fat and thick.
Numerous fans showed their support for Lizzo via social media. One follower remarked, “I’ve noticed the changes these last few months but didn’t mention it because it’s 2024 and we shouldn’t be commenting on bodies,” earning over 4,000 likes. They added, “You look AMAZING!!”
Lizzo, a long-time champion of body positivity, has posted many updates this year about her fitness routine. In August, she shared gym clips and encouraged followers, “If you’re reading this, remember you can achieve ANYTHING you set your mind to.”
In a recent workout video, she expressed how “incredible” it feels to be in a place where she loves her body.
“There were moments in my life when I was thinner than I am now, and I despised myself,” Lizzo reflected. “Before starting this fitness journey, I commenced a journey of self-love. Self-love isn’t solely about embracing yourself as you are; it’s also about accepting that you can change.”
In March, Lizzo told The New York Times that she has been “methodical” and “losing weight very slowly,” acknowledging her dieting and exercising efforts. “Each day, I’m committed to nurturing my body,” she shared. “I never regret a walk or a Pilates session.”
However, she remarked, “My body is nobody else’s concern.”
Previously, in 2020, she had stated that being “beautiful and fat” are not mutually exclusive.
“To those who look up to me, please do not starve yourselves,” she advised. “I didn’t starve myself. I nourished myself with greens, water, fruit, protein, and sunlight. You don’t have to follow what I did to feel beautiful or healthy. You can live your life your own way. Despite what anyone says or does, DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH YOUR BODY.”
In May, Lizzo reacted on TikTok when she was mentioned in a “South Park” special that talked about Ozempic and other diabetes medications used for weight loss by celebrities. In the episode, “Lizzo” is promoted as an alternative for those who can’t afford weight loss drugs, encouraging body acceptance.
Initially expressing that being featured on “South Park” was her “worst fear,” Lizzo later appreciated the parody, asserting that it showed she has “truly taught the world how to love themselves.”
