Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are celebrating their enduring relationship as a beloved couple in pop culture.

The couple marked their 22nd wedding anniversary on Sunday by posting a cheerful photo on Instagram. The image shows them smiling and sharing a hug on a beachfront balcony, with palm trees gently swaying in the background.

They captioned the joint post simply as “22,” including emojis depicting a diamond ring, champagne glasses, and a bride.

Prinze, who is 48, and Gellar, 47, first crossed paths on the set of the 1997 horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and tied the knot on September 1, 2002. They formed a close friendship before transitioning to a romantic relationship.

Prinze expressed in a 2020 interview with People magazine, “I didn’t date anyone else once I recognized that she was the one for me. I had no interest in pursuing other girls.”

The pair have two children: Charlotte Grace, who is 14, and Rocky James, who is 11, with Charlotte starting high school and Rocky beginning middle school this year.

Although the former teen stars prefer to keep a low profile away from Hollywood’s spotlight, they continue to work actively. Gellar, known for her role in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” will next be featured in the Paramount+ series “Dexter: Original Sin,” set to release in December. Meanwhile, Prinze recently appeared in “The Girl in the Pool,” a murder mystery that reunited him with his “Head Over Heels” co-star Monica Potter.
