BMW and Tesla Among 743,000 Vehicles Recalled: Find Car Recalls Here
Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced several recalls, including over 720,000 BMW cars due to a faulty water pump that poses a fire hazard.
Wondering if your vehicle is affected by any recalls? If it’s not listed below, vehicle owners can consult YSL News’s automotive recall database or check the NHTSA’s site for updates. The NHTSA site allows searches using your vehicle identification number (VIN).
Here’s an overview of the vehicle recalls reported by NHTSA from August 18 to August 24.
Tesla Recall Due to Roof Trim Issue
Tesla is recalling 9,136 of its 2016 Model X cars. The NHTSA has reported that the front and center roof trim pieces may not have been attached properly, which could lead to them coming loose while the car is in motion. If the trim detaches while driving, it could create a risk for other vehicles on the road and increase the likelihood of an accident.
To address the issue, Tesla will evaluate the adhesion of the roof trim and reattach any loose pieces at no charge. Recall notification letters are anticipated to be sent by October 14. Owners can reach Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752, citing recall number SB-24-12-008. Vehicles that were previously repaired under recall 20V-710 must undergo the new inspection and resolution process.

BMW Recalls
Due to Left-Side Beam Cracking
BMW is recalling 1,150 of its 2024 i4 eDrive40, xDrive40, and M50 models. The company stated that “the left-side longitudinal beam may develop cracks, potentially compromising the chassis’s structural integrity.” This issue could lead to damages affecting the vehicle’s high-voltage battery during a collision, thereby raising the risk of fire, as noted by NHTSA.
To rectify the situation, dealers will inspect and, if needed, replace the left-side beam free of charge. Notification letters will be sent out by October 7. Owners can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Due to Battery Short Circuit Risk
BMW is recalling 12,535 of its 2020-2024 MINI Hardtop 2 Door (Cooper SE) vehicles. According to the NHTSA, “issues may arise within the high-voltage battery or systems, potentially leading to a short circuit.” This malfunction raises the fire risk.
BMW will offer a software update at no cost to address the problem. Recall notification letters are set to be sent by October 7. Owners should contact BMW customer service at 1-866-ASK-MINI (1-866-275-6464).

For Water Pump Fault That Could Result in Fire
BMW is recalling 720,796 vehicles from the 2012 to 2018 model years. This recall impacts several models, including the BMW X1, X3, X4, and X5. The August 19 NHTSA report indicated that A faulty seal on an electrical connector attached to the water pump could allow water to penetrate, potentially leading to a short circuit. According to the report, this short could heighten the chance of a fire.
To resolve this problem, BMW dealerships will inspect and, if required, replace the water pump and its connector at no cost. Letters notifying customers of the recall are expected to be sent out on October 4. Owners can reach BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
