Large Recall: Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Others Impacted – Verify Your Vehicle Status

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced several recalls, which include over 226,000 Hyundai SUVs and sedans due to an issue with their rearview cameras.

Want to check if your vehicle is part of a recall? If your car isn’t mentioned below, you can use YSL News’s automotive recall database or the NHTSA database to find the latest recalls. The NHTSA offers a search option using your vehicle identification number (VIN).

Here’s a summary of the vehicle recalls reported by the NHTSA between November 24 and November 30.

Maserati’s Recall for Rearview Camera Issues

Maserati is recalling 1,710 units of its 2023-2024 Grecale and 2024 GranTurismo models.

The NHTSA recall notice indicates that the Central Vision Park Assist Module (CVPAM) software might prevent the rearview image from appearing when the car is in reverse.

If the rearview camera is not visible, it raises the possibility of an accident or harm, according to the recall notice.

The agency stated that these vehicles do not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111 pertaining to “Rear Visibility.”

To resolve the problem, dealers will update the CVPAM software at no cost to owners. Recall notifications are expected to begin mailing by January 10, 2025. For inquiries, Maserati customers can call 1-877-696-2737 and reference recall number 761.

Maserati vehicles included in the recall (1,710):

  • 2023-2024 Grecale
  • 2024 GranTurismo

Porsche’s Recall Due to Excessively Bright Headlights

Porsche is recalling 2,941 of its 2024-2025 Macan Electric vehicles.

The company stated in the NHTSA report that the headlights may be too bright and exceed permissible light output levels, which can impair other drivers’ vision.

Bright headlights can compromise visibility for others on the road, increasing the risk of accidents.

The NHTSA reported these vehicles do not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108 regarding “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

Dealers will offer a complimentary reprogramming of the headlight control unit software as part of the recall process. Notifications to affected owners will likely begin by January 24, 2025. Porsche customer service can be reached at 1-800-767-7243, referencing recall number ARC5.

Porsche vehicles included in the recall (2,941):

  • 2024-2025 Macan Electric

Honda Motorcycles with Potential Engine Stall

Honda is recalling 4,205 units of its 2022 and 2024-2025 CRF1100 Africa Twin motorcycles.

The recall notice by NHTSA highlights that a software glitch within the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) could lead to an unexpected engine stall or loss of power when the Wheelie Control system is engaged.

An engine stall or power loss could heighten the chance of a crash or injury.

Honda will reprogram the FI-ECU software at no charge to owners. Recall notifications are expected to be mailed out by January 20, 2025. For assistance, owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870 and mention recall number KR1.

Toyota Recalls Corolla and Corolla Hybrid for Steering Issues

Toyota is putting a hold on 8,057 units of its 2023-2024 Corolla and Corolla Hybrid models for safety reasons.

The company indicated in a recall document filed with the NHTSA that some vehicles might have been manufactured with a steering intermediate shaft assembly that could have cracks due to the production process. If these cracks increase in size, the upper universal joint might detach from the steering assembly.

According to the report, if this universal joint detaches, it could lead to a complete loss of steering control, significantly heightening the risk of an accident.

To address this, dealerships will provide replacement of the intermediate steering shaft at no expense to the vehicle owners. Notification letters regarding the recall are anticipated to be mailed out by January 20, 2025. For inquiries, owners can contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331, referring to recall number 24TB13/24TA13.

Mercedes-Benz Recall for Sunroof Panel Issues

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 33,456 of its vehicles because the sunroof glass panel may not be properly secured, potentially leading to detachment, as stated in their report to the NHTSA.

A detached sunroof panel poses a significant risk on the road and increases the likelihood of a crash, according to the recall details.

Dealers will inspect and, if needed, replace the sunroof panel at no charge. Notification letters regarding this recall are expected to be sent out by January 18, 2025. For assistance, owners can contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. This is an expansion of a previous NHTSA recall numbered 22V-954.

The automaker stated in the NHTSA report that a malfunctioning printed circuit board might prevent the rearview camera from displaying images.

Should the rearview camera fail to show an image, it raises the risk of an accident, according to the recall details.

These vehicles reportedly do not meet the federal safety standards regarding rear visibility, specifically Standard number 111.

Hyundai will replace faulty rearview cameras at no extra cost to the owners. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed out by January 19, 2025. Owners can reach Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460, with recall number 271 for reference.
