‘Tap, Hold, and Load in 4K’: Everything You Need to Know About the New Photo Trend on X
A fresh trend has emerged among sports enthusiasts on X, which was previously known as Twitter, although it actually has roots that go back a few years.
Sports fans on X are noticing an uptick in posts encouraging them to “tap, hold, and load in 4K.” This trend is not a new phenomenon but rather a feature available to mobile users on the platform. By tapping and holding a photo, users can download it in 4K resolution, if the option is available.
One of the most viewed posts featuring “tap, hold, and load in 4K” was released by FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, earning over 7.1 million views by Wednesday afternoon. This post showcased a panoramic image from the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Argentina.
Other organizations like the Detroit Lions, PGA Tour, and Futbol Club Barcelona have embraced this trend, urging fans to tap, hold, and download their 4K images.
Although the “tap, hold and load in 4K” feature is gaining traction now, it actually made its debut in 2021. In March 2021, the X Support account shared multiple updates to inform users on how to share and download photos in 4K resolution, which was part of a testing phase for Android and iOS devices. The functionality is also accessible through the X mobile application.
How Can You Upload Photos to X in 4K?
If you’re looking to upload photos in 4K to X, here’s what you need to do on your mobile device as per X Support:
- Open X Settings and go to accessibility, display, and languages
- Select data usage
- Adjust the settings for high-quality images and uploads to enable the highest quality for uploads and downloads
