NEW YORK — New York Fashion Week is in full swing, showcasing various designer collections that hint at the upcoming styles for the fall and winter seasons.
On Tuesday, at the Glasshouse, a stylish riverside venue, the design label Juzui achieved a remarkable distinction: making Elon Musk the lesser-known Musk in the spotlight.
Following a lineup of models showcasing vibrant floral prints, baggy slouch pants, and delicate tulle micro-skirts, the show concluded with a striking appearance by Maye Musk, Elon’s mother.
She charmed the audience in a shimmering charcoal gown complemented by a cropped silver hairstyle and a luxurious white feathered jacket. Many outfits featured similar graceful lines, and the predominant theme of the event revolved around colorful floral designs inspired by winter gardens.
Maye’s presence highlights her long-standing connection to the fashion brand.
“I truly admire and respect Maye as a person and as a woman,” said Taoray Wang, the chief designer, in an interview after the show with YSL News.
“She inspires me,” Wang added. “I believe she has also inspired many of my clients in China.”
At 76 years old, Maye Musk is both a seasoned model and author, boasting a rich experience of five decades in the fashion industry.
She has previously graced the Juzui runway and shared a heartfelt moment with Wang at the end of the show.
Her moment in the limelight coincides with her son’s growing influence within the government, following his alignment with President Donald Trump during the last months of the campaign.
Musk has taken on significant roles, assisting the president in selecting cabinet members and leading initiatives to reduce the federal workforce.
This close relationship has raised concerns among some congressional members regarding Musk’s extensive access to confidential government matters.
“The Musk hatchet brigade has accessed a treasure trove of data that every foreign spy and corrupt entity would covet,” Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., expressed. “It poses a major risk.”
While Maye Musk tends to steer clear of political commentary, she did share sentiments in agreement with Trump and Elon Musk’s anti-immigrant views on X last October (having been born in Canada and raised in South Africa).
