The ex-offensive lineman from North Dakota State has caught attention this week during practices as well as in the Senior Bowl game held on Saturday. His impressive performance throughout the week in Mobile, Alabama, earned him the title of Overall Practice Player of the Week in a poll conducted by 32 NFL executives.

Due to his outstanding display in front of NFL scouts and staff, Zabel has made his way into the discussions of being a potential late first-round pick.

Here’s everything you should know about Zabel, including details about his college recruitment:

Who is Grey Zabel?

Zabel stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 316 pounds, as measured at the Senior Bowl. Over the course of his career with the Bison, he participated in 62 games, starting at left tackle during his last season. He has shown his versatility by also starting at left guard, right tackle, and right guard throughout his collegiate career.

At the Senior Bowl, Zabel played as a guard and even stepped in at center for a series, showcasing his adaptability for higher levels of play. He graduated from NDSU with a degree in agribusiness along with a minor in economics and precision agriculture.

This season, Zabel was named First-Team FCS All-American as a tackle for the Bison, and his ability to display competency across the offensive line, alongside his skill with hand and footwork, has earned him accolades from NFL draft experts.

“From beginning to end, Grey Zabel excelled throughout the week,” noted ESPN analyst Field Yates on social media. “He was remarkable during one-on-ones at both guard positions and center. His hand and foot movements were always in harmony, and he played with intensity. After this week, Zabel seems like a candidate who could be selected late in the first round.”
