Messi’s Exciting Game Calendar: What to Expect from Him in 2025 with Inter Miami and Argentina

When will Messi play in 2025? His complete game schedule with Inter Miami and Argentina

Curious about Lionel Messi’s soccer calendar for 2025? He is expected to participate in nearly 50 matches, and this number may exceed 60 if Inter Miami performs well in various tournaments throughout a hectic year.

The MLS unveiled its 2025 schedule Thursday, with Messi and the defending Supporters’ Shield champions, Inter Miami, kicking off the season at home against New York City FC on February 22.

Inter Miami will also face Atlanta United—a team that eliminated them in last season’s MLS Cup playoffs—on March 16 in Atlanta, with a rematch set for June 28 when they host Atlanta at home.

The team will meet the 2023 MLS Cup champions, Columbus Crew, on April 19 at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, which is also the home field for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

In May, Inter Miami will tackle a challenging phase, playing seven matches in 28 days, including games against Minnesota on May 10 and San Jose on May 14. After this intense schedule, they won’t venture west of Nashville for the remainder of the MLS season.

On August 16, the reigning MLS Cup champions, L.A. Galaxy, will visit Inter Miami.

Inter Miami’s action begins even before the 30th MLS season starts. Their first match of the year will be on January 18 in Las Vegas against Mexican champions Club America. They will also compete against in-state rival Orlando City in Tampa on February 14, just days before facing Sporting Kansas City in the Concacaf Champions Cup on February 18. The teams will meet again in Miami on February 25, shortly after the MLS season opener.

Additionally, Messi and Inter Miami are set to compete in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. They will face Egyptian club Al Ahly on June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Portugal’s FC Porto on June 19 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and then return home to take on Brazil’s SE Palmeiras on June 23.

It is expected that Messi will also join the Argentine national team for at least six 2026 World Cup qualifying matches scheduled for this year: two in March, two in June, and two in September during FIFA’s international breaks.

Inter Miami will take part in the Leagues Cup tournament held from July 29 to August 31, with the tournament draw still pending. Messi and Inter Miami emerged victorious in the Leagues Cup in 2023.
