Update on Micah Parsons’ Injury: Cowboys Star to Have MRI on Ankle After Being Carted Away

(This article has been updated with the latest information.)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Outside the visitors’ locker room at MetLife Stadium, Micah Parsons was seen wearing one shoe and holding the other. He needed a golf cart to reach the Dallas Cowboys’ buses.

With his left ankle heavily taped, the linebacker waited for his ride, reminiscent of someone trying to hail a cab in Manhattan. Once it arrived, he hopped in, with crucial days ahead to assess the seriousness of his injury sustained during the final moments of the Cowboys’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants.

As the game neared its end and the Giants faced a crucial third down, Parsons made a rush through the Giants’ offensive line.

Dallas training staff assisted him as he struggled to walk off the field, unable to put weight on his left leg. Later, he was carted off the field, with his left shoe removed. In the locker room post-game, he walked with a noticeable limp.

During the play, Giants center John Michael Schmitz collided Parsons into right guard Greg Van Roten, who then fell. Parsons ended up underneath Van Roten and appeared to be in considerable pain.

“When I was planting,” Parsons remarked, “a guy fell on me.”

Latest Update on Micah Parsons’ Injury After the Giants Game

Post-game, Parsons confirmed he had sustained an ankle injury but provided few details. He shared that X-rays returned negative results and that he was scheduled for an MRI in Dallas the following day. He refrained from explaining the specifics of his condition.

“We have no idea,” he stated, adding that he had never experienced such a sensation on the field before.

The Cowboys are set to compete against the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 5.

Overall, there didn’t seem to be too much concern within the Cowboys’ organization. Head coach Mike McCarthy stated he did not have an official update and hadn’t spoken with Parsons since his exit during the game.

“Honestly, I’m just hoping it’s not anything serious,” said quarterback Dak Prescott. “I try to remain positive, so I’m hoping my thoughts are accurate and it’s just a minor issue. He seemed to be in good spirits, so that gives me optimism.”

Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs was seen kneeling beside Parsons as he lay in pain on the MetLife turf.

“I was just making sure he was okay,” Diggs said. “He’s my best friend. I just wanted to check on him. But he’s going to be fine.”

In the game, Parsons logged two tackles, including one for a loss. He briefly left the field in the first half due to a neck injury after a big hit from his teammate, second-year defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

Entering the matchup, Parsons had recorded six quarterback hits and one sack. The Cowboys secured their first win since Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, and Parsons believes there’s significant room for growth.

“I’m done scraping by,” Parsons declared. “I want real wins – consistent victories.”
