Many users face Microsoft 365 issues, struggling to log into email and Teams


Having trouble accessing your email or other Microsoft services this morning? You’re not by yourself.

 

Numerous Microsoft 365 users experienced outages on Thursday morning, reporting issues logging into their email and other applications. Downdetector, a site that monitors tech issues, estimated that over 20,000 users were affected at the height of the outage.

Here’s what we know regarding the Microsoft 365 outage.

Is Microsoft 365 currently down?

As reported by Downdetector, over 24,000 users indicated issues with Microsoft 365 around 9:00 a.m. ET on Thursday. By 9:30 a.m., this number decreased to slightly fewer than 3,500.

Which Microsoft applications are having trouble?

The email app Outlook saw the most reports, with 75% of issues relating to it. Additionally, 17% of users faced problems with server connections, while 8% reported issues with OneDrive.

 

When will the issues with Microsoft be resolved?

The Microsoft 365 Status account on X, previously known as Twitter, announced around 9 a.m. ET that they were exploring an issue affecting user access to various Microsoft 365 services.

Later at 9:30 a.m., the company provided an update, stating they were examining their network infrastructure and collaborating with a third party to get to the bottom of the problem. However, they have not yet given an estimated time for when services will be restored.
