Microsoft Restores Functionality After Widespread Outage

Is the Microsoft outage resolved? The company reports most services are now back online.

On Monday evening, Microsoft stated it was investigating ongoing Outlook web issues affecting a small number of users.

Microsoft confirmed that it has reinstated access to most of its applications, including Outlook and Teams, which experienced outages on Monday morning.

In a post on X late Monday night around 11 p.m. ET, the company announced that it has “restored functionality for all affected services except for Outlook on the web, which still has issues for a limited number of users.”

The company noted that it is working on resolving remaining problems with Outlook on the web and mail delivery delays.

Initially, Microsoft reported disruptions that affected Exchange Online access and features within Microsoft Teams Calendar.

Outages began on Monday morning

According to DownDetector, a service that tracks tech disruptions, users worldwide began reporting issues around 8 a.m. ET on Monday.

By just before 11 a.m. ET, thousands had reported problems, with many taking to social media to share their experiences.

This follows a series of Microsoft 365 outages that occurred in September.

Users shared their experiences on social media

One user commented on X, “#Microsoft outages are disrupting my productive work day. Might have to revert to phone calls and pen and paper.”

Another user stated, “While I appreciate a laid-back work day, I really need Microsoft to resolve this Outlook outage. I’m trying to finish all my tasks before the holiday.”
