MrBeast Gets Engaged! YouTube Sensation Shares His Christmas Engagement News
MrBeast has found the love of his life.
The well-known YouTuber disclosed to People in an interview released on Wednesday that he proposed to his girlfriend and author Thea Booysen on Christmas Day.
“We were unwrapping gifts, and for the very last one, he asked me to shut my eyes for a surprise,” Booysen recounted to the publication. Their parents were present to join in the festivities and witnessed her happily say yes.
“I was brainstorming the most surprising way to do it,” MrBeast shared with People. “Thea is very family-oriented, so I wanted her loved ones to be part of this special moment.”
The couple started dating in 2022 after meeting through a mutual friend during MrBeast’s trip to South Africa. After an enjoyable dinner conversation, Booysen received a direct message from MrBeast on X, expressing interest in her upcoming book titled “The Marked Children,” she revealed to People.
“I used to think that YouTubers were just performers, but when I met him, I was pleasantly surprised to realize he is genuinely a nice guy, without any arrogance,” she noted.
A year into their relationship, MrBeast felt prepared to propose, but Booysen suggested he wait until she finished her master’s degree (which she pursued in human cognitive neuropsychology at the University of Edinburgh).
Now that she has completed her master’s, Booysen is all set to say “I do.”
“In my heart, we’re already married,” she expressed to the outlet. “We discuss our future children and our plans to grow old together at 70 this is simply another step in our journey.”
MrBeast, noted as one of the top and highest-earning content creators, is famous for executing extravagant stunts on his YouTube channel. However, he preferred a more understated approach for the proposal (and future wedding).
“My friends assumed I would want to propose in a grand setting, like a spectacle at the Super Bowl or some other huge event,” he mentioned to People, “but I wanted it to be quite the opposite — very private and meaningful.”
Regarding the wedding plans, the couple is leaning toward a secluded island for the ceremony.
“It will certainly be more about family and friends — a much more private event,” MrBeast noted.
“We’re considering doing it on an island, where we can be away from the crowd,” Booysen added. “We’re not interested in having a lavish wedding. It will be nice, but it will definitely be intimate, with just close family and friends.”
