Fantasy football adds for Week 5

The players mentioned here are arranged from lowest to highest availability in ESPN leagues, but availability might differ on other platforms depending on league types and individual team requirements.

RB Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (49% available)

Initially, Rachaad White was expected to be the primary back for the Buccaneers, but rookie Irving has claimed a significant role. His number of carries has increased, and he just scored his first NFL touchdown. Upcoming, Tampa Bay faces an Atlanta team with a struggling rushing defense.

RB Braelon Allen, New York Jets (55% available)

A potential touchdown scorer may have surfaced in New York. After Breece Hall struggled to find the end zone on goal-line attempts, Jets coach Robert Saleh hinted at Allen possibly getting those opportunities. If New York finds itself in a goal-to-go scenario, Allen might be the one scoring easily.

RB Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys (57% available)

Even though the Cowboys don’t focus heavily on the run game, it appears Dowdle is the new lead back. He has outperformed returning player Ezekiel Elliott in rushing over the last three weeks and is coming off a season-high in carries and yards, additionally becoming a more dependable option in the passing game.

WR Allen Lazard, New York Jets (60% available)

The long-standing bond between Aaron Rodgers and Lazard has shown up in New York. Despite the Jets’ offensive struggles, Lazard was tied for the most targets in the last game, proving to be a trustworthy choice for Rodgers. He has achieved at least 10 points in three out of four games in PPR formats.

TE Colby Parkinson, Los Angeles Rams (66% available)

With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua sidelined for LA, Parkinson has stepped up as a more reliable target for Matthew Stafford. He has received a minimum of five targets in three of the four games so far. For those missing Sam LaPorta or Dallas Goedert, Parkinson is a strong backup option.

WR Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants (73% available)

While Malik Nabers has been grabbing headlines, Daniel Jones has identified Robinson as a reliable short-target player. Coming off a season-high of 11 catches and 71 yards with 14 targets, Robinson has scored at least 11 points in three games this season and is likely to continue to see targets with Nabers drawing attention.

WR Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers (75% available)

Initially, the Packers’ receiving corps was inconsistent with Malik Willis at quarterback, but Jordan Love’s return should revitalize the passing offense. With Christian Watson currently injured, Doubs could receive increased targets following a slow start this season, especially with Green Bay facing a Rams team that has struggled defensively.

WR Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers (75% available)

With Adam Thielen unable to play, Legette capitalized on the opportunity, delivering the best performance of his rookie season with six catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. Andy Dalton has been effective throwing the ball, and with the Panthers’ defense faltering, they are forced to air it out more. Legette’s chances to shine increase as the team ramps up their passing game.

RB Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs (79% available)

Upon his return to the Chiefs, Hunt quickly secured his place as the lead back, outpacing Carson Steele and Samaje Perine. He received a good number of carries and was the only back with noteworthy production in the passing game. Although Kansas City is still sorting through offensive challenges, Hunt appears to be stepping up as the primary back until Isiah Pacheco returns.

RB Justice Hill, Baltimore Ravens (91% available)

While Derrick Henry stood out as a top performer in Week 4, his backup, Hill, remained under the radar. Even though he doesn’t match Henry’s carries, Hill was the Ravens’ leading receiver with a touchdown reception as well. Baltimore’s ground game is strong, but when the Ravens pass, Lamar Jackson tends to keep it short, and Hill has proven dependable in that capacity when giving Henry a breather.
