LeBron James is set to participate in his record-breaking 19th Christmas Day game, marking his 17th consecutive appearance, as the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Golden State Warriors on December 25.

This matchup is part of a five-game lineup this Christmas, continuing a tradition of five NBA games on this holiday for the 17th straight year. Notably, San Antonio Spurs rising star Victor Wembanyama, who was named the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year and shined for France in the 2024 Paris Olympics, is expected to make his Christmas Day debut.

Here’s the NBA Christmas Day schedule for 2024:

  • Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics, 5 p.m. ET, ABC

2024 NBA Christmas Day Matchups

San Antonio Spurs vs. New York Knicks, noon ET, ESPN

The Knicks were part of the NBA’s inaugural Christmas games in 1947, winning against the Providence Steamrollers 89-61. The Knicks are set for their fourth straight Christmas appearance, marking the Spurs’ first since 2016, largely thanks to Wembanyama’s impact.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks, 2:30 p.m. ET, ABC

This game rematches last season’s Western Conference Finals, highlighted by Dallas’ Luka Dončić and Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, both of whom are strong MVP candidates. On Christmas last season, Dončić became the first player in NBA history to achieve at least 50 points, 15 assists, six rebounds, four steals, and three blocks in a game since those stats began being recorded in the 1973-74 season.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics, 5 p.m. ET, ABC

The reigning champion Celtics will make their ninth consecutive appearance on Christmas Day, holding a 5-3 record in their previous eight games, including wins in 2023 and 2022. Fans will be eager to see the collaboration between Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey. Embiid boasts an average of 31.3 points over four Christmas games but missed last year’s game against Miami.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors, 8 p.m. ET, ABC

LeBron boasts a Christmas Day record of 10 wins and 8 losses, with three consecutive defeats in 2021, 2022, and 2023. He holds several Christmas game records, including the most games played (18), highest points scored (477), and most field goals made (168), while ranking second in assists (127) and sixth in rebounds (139).

Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns, 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Post-Olympics, Denver’s Nikola Jokic might be weary of facing Phoenix’s stars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. This game is set to be a thrilling matchup — Durant is one of only five players to score over 300 points in Christmas games, with an average of 28.6 points during these matchups.
