NBA All-Star Teams Selected in TNT Draft: Who’s On Each Squad?
The NBA All-Star Game is entering a new era once again.
In December, the league revealed a new format for the event – cue Kevin Durant’s eye-roll – that includes a three-game structure with four teams, each led by a general manager. The event will feature two semifinals and a championship match, all set for February 16.
During TNT’s pregame show, three general managers – Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith – made their player selections on Thursday night. Candace Parker will be drafting players from the Rising Stars final game, which is set for February 14. Each team consists of eight players, with a maximum of five starters from the All-Stars.
O’Neal had the honor of making the first pick to kick off the snake draft, while Ernie Johnson hosted the event, adding jokes and witty remarks throughout.

All-Star Game Structure
To ensure a competitive edge, this year’s All-Star Game will introduce a mini-tournament featuring four teams in a three-game showdown.
Two teams will face off in one semifinal, with the other pair competing in the second semifinal. The victors from each semifinal will then battle for the title. The first team to hit 40 points in each game will claim victory.
Each team consists of eight players – three teams will be formed from the 24 NBA All-Stars, while the fourth team will include players from the Rising Stars game.
The All-Star Game coaching duties will be assigned to the coaching staffs with the best records in each conference as of February 2. The head coach from the East (Cleveland’s Kenny Atkinson) and the head coach from the West (Oklahoma City’s Mark Daigneault) will each mentor one NBA All-Star team. An assistant from one team will coach the opposing team, and another assistant will lead the Rising Stars squad.
