Neymar Excited About the Possibility of Reuniting with Messi and Suarez at Inter Miami

Neymar expresses excitement about reuniting with Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami

The renowned Brazilian soccer player Neymar is aiming for a spot in the upcoming World Cup scheduled for 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, knowing that it will likely be his last appearance on that stage.

Neymar is also eager to start playing in the U.S. sooner, perhaps alongside his former teammates from Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, while with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

“It would be amazing to play again with Messi and Suarez,” Neymar, whose contract with the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal wraps up in June, mentioned in an interview with CNN Sport on Tuesday.

“They are still my friends, and we keep in touch; it would be fun to reignite this trio.”

“I enjoy my time at Al Hilal and in Saudi Arabia, but you never know. Football is full of surprises,” Neymar remarked.

During their time together at FC Barcelona from 2014 to 2017, Neymar, Messi, and Suarez formed the famous MSN trio, clinching a Champions League title, a Club World Cup title, and three La Liga championships.

Furthermore, Neymar and Messi played alongside Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain from 2021 to 2023.

While Messi and Suarez reunited at Inter Miami last year, celebrating an MLS regular-season title, Neymar has had a challenging recovery journey back to the pitch with Al Hilal after suffering a significant knee injury while playing for Brazil in October 2023.

If Neymar joins Inter Miami this summer, he would have the opportunity to reunite with other former Barcelona players, such as Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Javier Mascherano, who has recently been appointed as the coach of the club.

Neymar might even be ready to play for Inter Miami in the 2025 Club World Cup, which kicks off in mid-June.

Inter Miami’s owner Jorge Mas has expressed a willingness to sign Neymar once he becomes available, as revealed during the recent Club World Cup group draw.

“The important factor is that if he becomes available. As of now, he is an Al Hilal player and not available to us,” Mas stated.

“We aim to attract top players to our team. Although we have numerous roster restrictions, our budget isn’t limited. We are ambitious.

“If there is a genuine opportunity to bring a player of Neymar’s caliber, we won’t hesitate. It’s not solely up to me; it depends on the player and the league. However, yes, we intend to assemble a fantastic roster here.”

Recently, Neymar shared a picture on his Instagram showing him and his son, both wearing Messi’s Inter Miami jersey.

Neymar frequently visits Miami during his breaks, such as last March when he threw the first pitch at a Marlins baseball game, attended a Heat basketball game, and dined with Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham.

“Welcome to Miami my friend (just for dinner),” Beckham humorously captioned a picture with Neymar and his wife Victoria on Instagram.

This isn’t the first time Neymar has voiced his desire to reunite with Messi or play in Major League Soccer.

“I hope we can team up again,” Neymar mentioned at the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix last February.

Neymar also expressed on a podcast in February 2022 that he would “love to experience playing in the U.S.” even if it were just for one season.

Looking ahead to the next World Cup, Neymar is hopeful about representing Brazil again. He missed out on the national team’s participation during the Copa America last summer, held in the U.S., due to his injury.

“I will strive to be present; I want to participate,” he said on Tuesday. “I’m aware this will be my last World Cup, my final chance, and I will do everything within my power to be part of it.”
