Packers Defend Strong, Snatch Last-Minute Victory from Bears for 11th Straight Rivalry Triumph

Packers Deny Bears’ Last-Minute Field Goal, Extend Rivalry Win Streak to 11 Games

For the second week in a row, an NFL powerhouse managed to block a crucial field goal attempt at the last moment to secure victory against a rival team.

The Green Bay Packers clinched a 20-19 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday after defensive lineman Karl Brooks deflected Cairo Santos’ 46-yard field goal attempt. This win marked the Packers’ 11th consecutive victory over the Bears.

This finish followed a similar scenario just a week earlier when the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Denver Broncos, thanks to linebacker Leo Chanal, who disrupted Wil Lutz’s 35-yard kick attempt, securing a 16-14 win and keeping the Chiefs undefeated.

“I felt it in my gut that I would block it,” stated Brooks. “I told myself that. I heard the play called and saw Lukas (Van Ness) beside me. I asked him to set it up, and he did, allowing me to get my hand on the ball.”

After the Bears dismissed offensive coordinator Shane Waldron last week, replacing him with Thomas Brown, they outperformed the Packers, accumulating 391 total yards compared to Green Bay’s 366. Chicago took the lead for a significant part of the second half after running back D’Andre Swift dashed for a 39-yard touchdown in the third quarter. However, Green Bay regained the lead with just 2:59 remaining in the fourth quarter after a 60-yard pass to Christian Watson, followed by quarterback Jordan Love rushing into the end zone from just one yard out.

In response, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams helped Chicago march 42 yards to set up what could have been the game-winning field goal. But Brooks intervened, knocking the ball down, leading the Packers to improve their record to 7-3.

Next, the Packers will host the Bears for a rematch in Week 18.
