Paris Hilton ‘devastated’ after witnessing Malibu home burn ‘to the ground on live TV’
Paris Hilton has announced that her family’s residence was lost in the wildfires in Los Angeles.
In a heartfelt message shared on X Wednesday, the media icon expressed her “heartbreak beyond words” regarding the destruction of her home. “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu engulfed in flames on live TV is a traumatic experience no one should endure,” Hilton shared.
Hilton, married to entrepreneur Carter Reum, is a parent of two, with son Phoenix and daughter London, both aged 1.
“This house held countless treasured memories,” Hilton added. “It was where Phoenix took his first steps and where we envisioned creating a lifetime of memories with London.”
The fierce Santa Ana winds have fueled several wildfires across LA County since Tuesday, resulting in at least five fatalities and many homes being consumed by the flames. Although winds were anticipated to calm overnight Wednesday, forecasters cautioned that conditions would remain precarious at least through Thursday.
The Eaton Fire, which started about 30 miles inland in Altadena close to Pasadena, quickly expanded to over 16 square miles, equating to 10,600 acres. Another fire, the Pacific Palisades Fire, devastated structures and ranged over 15,832 acres between Santa Monica and Malibu. A third fire, the Hurst Fire, broke out in Sylmar, in the San Fernando Valley northwest of downtown Los Angeles, consuming at least 500 acres and causing evacuations for some residents nearby.
This series of events has led to the evacuation of over 100,000 individuals.
“Even though the loss feels unbearable, I am thankful that my family is safe,” Hilton expressed. “My thoughts and prayers are with every family impacted by these fires, including those who have lost their homes, cherished memories, and their beloved pets.”
“My heart grieves for those who are still threatened or experiencing greater losses. The level of destruction is beyond comprehension. Knowing that many are awakening today without the home they cherished is heartbreaking. 💔”
Hilton is not alone among celebrities affected by the relentless wildfires. Fellow actors James Woods and Cameron Mathison, reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, and songwriter Diane Warren are among those who have lost their residences due to the fire.
The intense wildfire conditions have also caused significant disruptions in Hollywood, including the postponement of this Sunday’s Critics’ Choice Awards and the cancellation of several movie premieres.
Hilton closed her message by expressing deep gratitude towards “the courageous firefighters and first responders who endanger their lives for our safety,” stating, “I appreciate your bravery, commitment, and the extraordinary sacrifices you are making to save lives and confront this unspeakable ordeal.”
“Let’s support one another and hold onto hope for the containment of these fires soon. 🙏 We are united in this struggle, LA.✨ Cherish your loved ones a little more tightly tonight. You never know how quickly everything can change. 🥺”
