Perry Farrell Seeking Support After Altercation with Dave Navarro at Jane’s Addiction Concert, Says Wife

Perry Farrell is reaching out for medical assistance following an incident where he struck guitarist Dave Navarro during a recent Jane’s Addiction show, as revealed by his wife.

Etty Lau Farrell posted on Instagram on Saturday that she and her husband, who is 65, are “taking some time for ourselves to think and recover” after the incident that led to the tour’s sudden conclusion.

“Perry has already scheduled visits with an ear, nose, and throat doctor and a neurologist,” she explained. “If you truly know and care for Perry, you understand that there is no need for me to address the other misleading stories. Our spirits are aware.”

YSL News has attempted to contact representatives for Farrell for additional comments.

The band surprised fans during a concert in Boston on September 13 when the performance was interrupted after Farrell hit Navarro. Footage from the event displayed Farrell being restrained and removed from the stage. Shortly after, the band announced the cancellation of the remainder of their tour and offered refunds.

Etty Lau Farrell, who has been partnered with Perry since 2002, noted that he became increasingly upset because he “felt overwhelmed by the loud stage volume which made it hard for him to be heard,” leading to “tinnitus and a sore throat every night.”

When fans in the front rows expressed their concerns that the band was “too loud and that they couldn’t hear him,” Perry lost control,” she added, and highlighted that “there had been significant tension and strain among the band members.”

In her Saturday post, she remarked, “We are as shocked by Perry’s physical outburst as you are — but you need to understand that Perry must have been pushed to his absolute breaking point. We apologize for this.”

She continued, “With the love, compassion, and support from all of you, Perry will push through. He will recover. He will find happiness again, and he will once more share his music, vision, and creativity without restraint.”

Farrell had previously issued a statement to YSL News, apologizing to “my fellow band members, especially Dave Navarro, as well as to fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.” He acknowledged that his “breaking point led to unacceptable behavior” and took “full responsibility for how I responded to the situation.”

Navarro also shared a statement on social media explaining that the U.S. tour was halted due to “ongoing behavioral issues and mental health challenges” faced by Farrell.

“Our concern for Perry’s health and well-being, as well as our own, has left us with no choice,” the guitarist stated. “We regret that we are unable to deliver for our fans who have already purchased tickets. We see no way forward that would ensure a safe performance environment or allow us to consistently provide a great show.”

Jane’s Addiction was founded in 1985 and is celebrated for hits like “Jane Says” and “Been Caught Stealing.” The band was on tour with original members Farrell, Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins starting in August.
