The Met Gala has revealed its co-chairs for 2025, featuring a remarkable lineup of prominent Black men.

Honorary co-chair LeBron James will join Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton as co-chairs, along with Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City revealed on Wednesday. The museum and Vogue also shared that the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition will be called “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

Per Vogue, the exhibition is inspired by Barnard College professor Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,” and will showcase clothing, artwork, photography, and more, highlighting the rich style of Black men and the concept of dandyism from the 18th century to today.

When Will the 2025 Met Gala Take Place?

The Met Gala, under Wintour’s leadership since 1995, is scheduled for May 5 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The detailed dress code will be announced early next year and will align with the “Superfine” exhibit, which will be available for public viewing from May 6 to October 26.

Met Gala 2024 Theme and Co-Chairs

In November, Vogue and the Met unveiled the theme for the 2024 event, titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which also serves as the name of the accompanying exhibit at the Costume Institute. Typically, the gala’s theme and dress code are different yet connected.

Last year’s dress code was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story from 1962, featuring celebrities dressed in nature-themed attire. Co-chairs for the 2024 Met Gala included Wintour, Latin music sensation Bad Bunny, multi-talented Jennifer Lopez, “Euphoria” star Zendaya, and “Thor” actor Chris Hemsworth.

Honorary co-chairs were Jonathan Anderson, creative head at Loewe, and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
