President Joe Biden to give primetime farewell address from the Oval Office
WASHINGTON ― President Joe Biden is planning to address the nation in a farewell speech on Wednesday night, just days before he completes his term and President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
The address from the Oval Office will begin at 8 p.m. ET, with Trump being inaugurated as the 47th president on January 20.
Biden, 82, has enacted significant legislation aimed at boosting infrastructure, reviving clean-energy manufacturing, and advancing investments in the microchip sector to rival China, alongside strengthening alliances with other nations.
Despite these achievements, Biden faced challenges, including low approval ratings and being held responsible for inflation, even as other economic indicators showed strength. He also could not prevent Trump’s political resurgence, a figure Biden warned continuously posed a risk to American democracy, and his poor performance in debates contributed to his withdrawal from the 2024 race.
