Rachael Kirkconnell Sets the Record Straight: Infidelity Not the Reason Behind Matt James Split

Rachael Kirkconnell Refutes Infidelity Claims in Her Breakup with Matt James

On January 16, Matt James surprised “Bachelor” fans by announcing the end of his four-year relationship with Rachael Kirkconnell. Kirkconnell will appear on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Tuesday.

Rachael Kirkconnell is responding to her recent breakup with Matt James, who was the star of Season 25 of “The Bachelor.”

In a video shared by TMZ on Tuesday, Kirkconnell spoke to a videographer while she was on an escalator heading to a TSA checkpoint at LAX. She described her feelings, saying she was “hanging in there.”

“You can’t truly prepare for something like this,” she reflected on the breakup. “So, it’s just about taking it one day at a time. Eventually, the details will come out, and I’ll share when I’m ready. For now, I’m just focused on maintaining my peace.”

When questioned about any possible infidelity in the relationship, the 28-year-old firmly stated, “No, not at all.”

Regarding the potential for rekindling her relationship with James, Kirkconnell was clear in her response. “No. Yeah, we’re out. We’re done,” she asserted.

On January 16, James took to Instagram to reveal the end of their four-year relationship, catching fans off guard, as many believed their relationship was thriving based on their social media presence. Just hours before, he had shared a video of them dining together in a London pizzeria.

“Father God, grant Rachael and me the strength to heal our broken hearts. Help us find peace in our decision to end our relationship that surpasses all understanding,” he wrote alongside a throwback photo from the premiere of “The Bachelor” in 2021. “Bless our friends and family with kindness and love as they comfort us. And remind us, Lord, that our true joy comes from you.”

Neither Kirkconnell nor James’s representatives have responded to requests for comments from YSL News, and Kirkconnell has not made a public statement on social media.

However, fans are eager to hear her perspective on the breakup in an upcoming interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, set to air Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.

Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell’s Breakup Happened During 2021 “Bachelor” Season

The couple’s romance developed after filming for James’ controversial season, but they split when a photo of Kirkconnell at an Antebellum-themed party from 2018 resurfaced while the show aired in early 2021.

During the live “After the Final Rose” event, James, the franchise’s first Black male lead in 19 years, expressed that while he believed nobody is beyond redemption, Kirkconnell needed to do a “lot of work” to understand “what it means to be Black in America.” Kirkconnell, who previously described her actions as “offensive and racist,” accepted responsibility, stating she did not want to “victimize” herself and acknowledged her ignorance at that time.

Despite the chaotic conclusion of the season, which also saw host Chris Harrison leave the franchise after defending Kirkconnell against accusations from activists, the couple reconciled after the finale.

In a May 2021 interview with the Wall Street Journal, James confirmed that he and Kirkconnell had reunited, remarking, “It’s unfair to leave people without the chance to unlearn and grow.”

While they have distanced themselves from the franchise in recent years, both have kept their fans updated through social media with posts about their travels and dining experiences.
