Which 38 Republicans opposed Trump’s government funding plan?
As the deadline approaches to secure funding for the U.S. government, there are just over 12 hours for Congress to reach a compromise. Despite looking forward to a new year where they hold the presidency and both houses, the Republicans are struggling to cooperate effectively as they attempt to finalize a spending bill.
On Thursday night, the House dismissed a proposal supported by President-elect Donald Trump, leading to a significant defeat of 174-235. This proposal was a modified version of a bipartisan bill that had previously been rejected earlier in the week after both Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance voiced their opposition to it.
Below is the list of the 38 Republicans who broke ranks with the soon-to-be president and voted alongside Democrats against the continuing resolution.
