Teri Garr, the renowned comedy actress well-known for her roles in “Tootsie” and “Young Frankenstein,” has passed away at the age of 79.
According to her publicist, Heidi Schaeffer, Garr “passed away peacefully” on Tuesday morning, having fought a prolonged battle with multiple sclerosis (MS), surrounded by her loved ones. She first publicly revealed her MS diagnosis during an appearance on CNN’s “Larry King Live” in 2002.
The daughter of actor Eddie Garr, she began her career performing as a dancer in Elvis Presley films before gaining fame through her outstanding performances in movies like “Young Frankenstein” and “Tootsie,” for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also appeared alongside Michael Keaton in the film “Mr. Mom.”
