Is Sam LaPorta playing this week? Latest injury update on Lions’ TE
This week, the Detroit Lions will be traveling to face off against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12. After a dominant victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, where they won 52-6, the Lions are currently riding an impressive eight-game winning streak, the longest in the league.
Despite the absence of their key pass catcher, tight end Sam LaPorta, the Lions managed to achieve a franchise-high of 645 total yards against the Jaguars last week.
LaPorta exited the Lions’ game in Week 10 due to a shoulder injury and was not part of the lineup the following Sunday. Here’s the latest update regarding his condition for Week 12.
Will Sam LaPorta be playing this week?
LaPorta participated fully in practice sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He wasn’t listed as questionable in the final practice report, indicating he is likely to return to play this week.
“He looks to be improving,” said Lions coach Dan Campbell on Friday. “He seems to be in good shape and looks like he has a lot of energy.”
In his last game, LaPorta recorded three receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown against the Texans.
LaPorta concluded the 2023 season with 86 receptions totaling 889 yards, ranking second on the team, just behind wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. For 2024, he maintains his position as second on the team in receptions but has dropped to third in yards due to the rising performance of Jameson Williams.
