Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Set to Face Trial for Sexual Assault Allegations: Latest Developments

Trial date for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs set for sexual crime allegations: Updates live

Sean “Diddy” Combs has a court date scheduled.

During a hearing on Thursday, Judge Arun Subramanian confirmed that the federal trial for Combs regarding sex crimes will commence on May 5, 2025, coinciding with the day of the 2025 Met Gala. Combs’ legal team had previously requested for the trial to happen in either April or May of next year, as noted in a letter to the judge from Wednesday.

According to Prosecutor Emily Johnson, the prosecution’s presentation is expected to last at least three weeks, while Combs’ defense will take approximately one week, as stated by his attorney, Marc Agnifilo.

Was Diddy granted bail today?

Judge Subramanian also stated that Combs will remain in custody while awaiting the outcome of his latest bail appeal. The founder of Bad Boy Records has been held in the Special Housing Unit at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York opted not to comment on the hearing that took place on Thursday.

Diddy attends court hearing with family support

Combs, facing charges related to racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution following his September arrest, attended the court session on Thursday along with his legal team to meet Judge Subramanian, who has taken over the case from Judges Robyn Tarnofsky and Andrew L. Carter, both of whom had denied Combs’ $50 million bail request.

Dressed in tan prison attire, Combs acknowledged his family in the courtroom audience with kisses after the hearing concluded. His mother and children − son Justin and daughters Chance, D’Lila, and Jessie − were present, as stated by defense attorney Anthony Ricco. Combs was escorted out a side door by U.S. Marshals following the hearing.

Diddy’s attorneys pursue appeal regarding jail detention

This hearing follows the filing of appeal documents by Combs’ lawyers on Tuesday, contesting his detention. They argued that the earlier justification provided by federal prosecutors for his imprisonment was unfounded and speculative. On Wednesday, the rapper’s legal team filed a motion requesting an evidentiary hearing to examine claims of government misconduct related to leaks of case information to the media.

“What makes this situation extreme and unusual is that Mr. Combs was detained right after charges were brought against him, despite having been in the public eye his entire life with many of his actions widely covered in the media and known to law enforcement,” stated attorney Alexandra Shapiro in a motion filed on Tuesday.

Combs was taken into custody at a Manhattan hotel on September 16 and appeared for arraignment the following day. He has consistently asserted his innocence, having pleaded not guilty to all federal charges while facing multiple civil lawsuits over the last year.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lawyers claim government leaked video of Cassie incident

In their Wednesday motion, Combs’ attorneys accused the federal government of leaking information, including a recently discovered video from 2016 showing Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, claiming this has prejudiced opinion against the music mogul.

They are calling for an evidentiary hearing to investigate the claimed misconduct and to require relevant government agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations (the group responsible for the raids on Combs’ residences in March), to submit documentation pertaining to the alleged media “leaks.”

Additionally, they requested the judge to prohibit federal employees from sharing evidence with the media, as well as to suppress any evidence that has been leaked from government sources.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs faces numerous new sexual abuse allegations from over 100 accusers, attorney reports

<p) Two weeks following Combs’ arrest, Texas attorney Tony Buzbee held a press conference on October 1 to announce various civil lawsuits against the Grammy-winning artist.

Combs is facing accusations from his clients, many of whom were underage at the time of the alleged incidents. They have charged him with serious offenses, including “violent sexual assault or rape,” involvement in “facilitated sex with a controlled substance,” “dissemination of video recordings,” and “sexual abuse of minors.”

His attorney, Erica Wolff, stated to YSL News that Combs “vehemently and categorically denies all claims of sexual abuse against anyone, including minors,” asserting the allegations are false and defamatory.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs unsuccessful in two bail requests

Leading up to Combs’ recent appeal, the well-known music producer was denied bail twice. U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky ruled against his release, agreeing with prosecutors that he presented a risk if freed for home confinement.

After Judge Carter affirmed Tarnofsky’s September 17 decision against Combs, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, pledged to pursue an appeal.

Outside the courthouse on September 18, he remarked, “I informed Mr. Combs that I will try to expedite his case to trial. It is essential to reduce the duration he spends in what I deem extremely difficult and inhumane conditions at the Special Housing Unit of the Metropolitan Detention Facility.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother speaks out in support during his legal issues

Janice Smalls Combs, the mother of Combs, defended her son in a heartfelt message released through her attorney, Natlie G. Figgers, on October 6.

“It is incredibly painful to witness my son being judged based on a distorted narrative rather than the truth,” Janice expressed in her Instagram statement. “Watching what seems to be a public lynching of my son before he has the chance to prove his innocence is an unbearable anguish that is hard to articulate.”
