Earn flight rewards while cruising: Southwest introduces cruise bookings
Customers of Southwest Airlines can now collect flight rewards while enjoying cruises.
With a new partnership with World Travel Holdings, travelers can book cruises through the airline, Southwest announced on Tuesday.
“Our customers have expressed interest in cruises, and our collaboration with World Travel Holdings provides access to all major cruise lines, including Carnival, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean, enhancing the travel experience for our passengers,” said Phil Gouel, Vice President of Product Development at Southwest, in a press release. “This partnership offers our loyal members additional opportunities to earn points.”
Bookings can be made at www.southwestcruises.com.
Members of the Rapid Rewards program can accumulate one point “for every eligible $1 spent,” as stated on the website. Additionally, travelers can earn double points on qualifying cruises booked by October 31.
Similar programs are also available with other airlines, like American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.
This announcement follows Southwest’s recent disclosure that assigned seating will be introduced for ticket sales in the latter half of 2025, marking a departure from its traditional open seating method. This change is part of a broader effort to enhance value for both customers and investors, especially as the airline’s earnings have faced challenges recently.
Other new features include premium seating options and overnight flights.
