Check It Out: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders Seems to Push Referee During Kansas Game
Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback for Colorado football, narrowly avoided being thrown out of the game in the third quarter during Saturday’s clash with Kansas.
While his team was losing, the 18th-ranked Buffaloes’ quarterback appeared to lose his temper after what seemed to be a missed call. Following a hit, he reportedly shoved the head referee, Kevin Mar, with one hand as he got up, yet the officials did not flag him.
Mike Pereira, a rules analyst for FOX Sports, commented that Sanders was fortunate to remain in the game after his actions.
“There’s no doubt he did,” Pereira remarked about Sanders pushing Mar. “I understand his frustration because players were coming down on him after he’d been brought down. However, officials can use their hands to maintain control. As a player, you absolutely cannot retaliate against a ref.”
“In the midst of the chaos, the officials may miss it, but he’s lucky he wasn’t kicked out of the match.”
