Further information regarding the passing of Shifty Shellshock, who passed away in June at 49, has come to light.

Seth Binzer, known as the frontman of Crazy Town, succumbed to the “effects of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine,” as indicated by YSL News’s examination of records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

His death was classified as accidental, with no additional medical issues contributing to it. Shellshock passed away on June 24 at a residence in Los Angeles.

In a statement released to The Sun shortly after Shellshock’s passing, his family addressed his ongoing struggle with addiction.

“Seth dealt with addiction for much of his life. This struggle played out in the public eye, making things even more difficult,” they said. “He fought valiantly against his addictions but, tragically, could not win the battle.

“Our hearts are broken. Seth’s vibrant energy influenced so many around him. He was a complex individual, but filled with beauty and kindness.”

Shellshock openly discussed his challenges with sobriety during his participation in the inaugural season of VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab” for cocaine addiction in 2008. He returned for Season 2 following a relapse that was noted by producer and host Dr. Drew Pinsky.

The artist was also featured in both seasons of the short-lived spin-off “Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House” in 2009 and 2010.

Crazy Town, the band Shellshock led, gained fame from their 1999 single “Butterfly,” which climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001. Their debut album, “The Gift of Game,” released in 1999, sold 1.6 million copies.

The group disbanded in 2003 amid dwindling success in following music endeavors.

Shellshock reunited Crazy Town in 2007 with co-founder Bret “Epic” Mazur, and they released a new album in 2015. Mazur exited from the band in 2017, after which Shellshock rebranded the group as Crazy Town X.
