Sixers finalize a one-year deal with Olympic star Guerschon Yabusele, according to reports
Power forward Guerschon Yabusele, a key player for France that won a silver medal at the recent 2024 Paris Olympics, has reportedly reached an agreement for a one-year contract worth $2.1 million with the Philadelphia 76ers, as mentioned by ESPN.
The 6-foot-8, 260-pound athlete was drafted in the first round by the Boston Celtics in 2016 but had limited playing time over his two seasons in the NBA. He then pursued his career with teams in China, France, and Spain.
Now 28, Yabusele emerged as a standout player during the Olympics, averaging 19.6 points per game and making 67% of his shots from the field against teams like Canada, Germany, and the USA, helping lead France to the gold medal match.
This offseason, the Sixers have been quite active, signing guard Paul George for a max four-year deal and re-signing free agents Kelly Oubre and Kyle Lowry.
With a gap at the power forward position, Yabusele could be a valuable addition for the team. Although Caleb Martin, another free agent signing, is currently projected to start at the four spot, Yabusele may get a chance to contribute immediately.
