SNL’s Hilarious ‘Domingo’ Skit Features a Comedic Espresso Twist and Sabrina Carpenter’s Seal of Approval

Viral ‘SNL’ Skit Based on ‘Espresso’ Attracts Sabrina Carpenter’s Attention

Ariana Grande, who was guest hosting “Saturday Night Live,” has made waves with a particular sketch that is still trending after a week.

The latest “SNL” episode featured a humorous take on Sabrina Carpenter’s popular song “Espresso.” In this skit, a group of bridesmaids hilariously recount their misadventures during a bachelorette party in Charleston, South Carolina.

The skit showcased host Grande along with “SNL” cast members Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, and Sarah Sherman as bridesmaids, who opt for a musical performance instead of a traditional speech for the bride, Kelsey, an espresso martini lover, portrayed by Chloe Fineman.

“Instead of a speech, we’re doing something different because we’re a bit creative and quirky,” says Gardner’s character before the “Kels Squad” launches into song.

The narrative intensifies as the bridesmaids discuss the bride’s connection with a man named Domingo—a doctor and model—highlighting moments like Kelsey “dancing with Domingo” as they share more about the party’s escapades.

“Gave her the ring, and then she vanished,” Nwodim sings, as Kelsey reassures her groom, Matthew (played by Andrew Dismukes), saying, “I just didn’t want to lose it in the hot tub.”

Later, the bridesmaids reveal that Kelsey and Domingo’s hot tub encounter resulted in her asking them to book a hotel for some private time.

“At the Marriott, Googling Domingo,” Grande continues, with Nwodim adding, “just to check if he’s a psycho.” The bewildered groom, Matthew, questions if the song’s real intention was to expose Kelsey for cheating.

“No, it’s all about the ‘Espresso’,” Gardner clarifies to the frustrated Matthew.

Marcello Hernandez, a beloved cast member, plays Domingo, who makes a surprise appearance at the wedding to deliver a message, asserting that he and Kelsey are merely friends while also admitting, “We did hook up, though!”

Sabrina Carpenter Reacts to ‘Espresso’ Parody, ‘SNL’ Domingo Song Takes Over TikTok

The “SNL” parody is gaining major traction online, even catching the eye of Carpenter.

A collection of favorite Domingo lines from the sketch has garnered close to 2 million views on TikTok. Additionally, a real doctor named Domingo, who shares a quirky similarity to the character—”donates to strange, sick animals”—amassed over 2.6 million views using audio from the skit. Even players from the Tennessee Titans have joined in on the fun, covering the song on TikTok.

As reported by Billboard and Cosmopolitan, Carpenter gave a nod to the sketch, commenting, “Very nice and on pitch” on her Instagram story while sharing a clip of the slightly off-key performance, along with some heart emojis. Previously, she had performed the hit on “Saturday Night Live” during the Season 49 finale.

“SNL” kicked off its landmark 50th season on September 28.

The upcoming episode will highlight host Michael Keaton and musical guest Billie Eilish, who has enjoyed a successful summer following her album “Hit Me Hard and Soft.” Comedian John Mulaney will also return to host “SNL” on November 2, shortly before the presidential election, alongside musical guest Billie Eilish.

Grande, who appeared as a musical guest in Season 49, is one of many notable hosts this season, which includes Keaton, Mulaney, and previous hosts such as Jean Smart and Nate Bargatze.
