Sophie Turner had a ‘beautiful relationship’ with Joe Jonas, is ‘very happy’ with new beau

A month out from her divorce from Joe Jonas being finalized, “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner is moving on with her life.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar U.K. that published Wednesday, the 28-year-old actor reflected on the emotional tool of her yearlong, high-profile divorce from the Jonas Brothers singer.

“I’m going through a legal process right now where I can’t really say much, but it was incredibly sad. We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard,” Turner said. Though it’s unclear when the interview took place, her and Jonas’ divorce was finalized in Florida on Sept. 6, almost exactly a year after Jonas filed a petition for dissolution of marriage due to an “irretrievably broken” marriage.

The details of their divorce have not been made public. Earlier this year, the two stars came to a shared custody agreement, according to court filings reviewed by YSL News, following an initial custody battle that Turner took to court last fall and dismissed in January. She and Jonas have said their children – 4-year-old Willa and 2-year-old Delphine – “will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the U.K.”

Sophie Turner is ‘so happy’ to be back in the UK after 6 years in the US

Turner, who starred in the British TV series “Joan” that aired its finale earlier this month, opened up about how healing it has been to be back in the U.K. full-time after starting and raising her family in the U.S., where Jonas was born. Their family lived in Los Angeles and Miami, but Turner experienced homesickness.

“I’m so happy to be back. It felt as if my life was on pause until I returned to England,” she said. “I just never really feel like myself when I’m not in London, with my friends and family. I was away for so long – six years – and it was when my friends were getting engaged, and when I got pregnant. I went for dinner with someone the other day, and she said, ‘I never got to touch your belly.’ We didn’t have those key experiences with each other.”

She also said she found issues such as gun violence and Roe v. Wade being overturned in 2022 made it difficult for her to remain in the U.S.

Another “cathartic” experience amid Turner’s divorce was filming an upcoming psychological thriller titled “Trust.” In the Carlson Young-directed movie, Turner reportedly plays a Hollywood star who must evade criminals after isolating amid a highly publicized scandal.

“That one really mirrored my life from this past year, and it was a very cathartic experience for me,” she said. “It was a chance to let out some serious anger, which was fun. So that felt right for me to do.”

Sophie Turner says it’s ‘absolute agony’ when she’s not with her kids

Sharing custody over her two daughters means Turner often has periods without seeing them — an experience that she describes as “absolute agony.” While flying solo, at the time of the Harper’s Bazaar interview, she stayed at her friend’s west London home so she wouldn’t be alone.

Becoming a mother “changed me so much in every way. Before I had kids, I was very depressed and anxious, and I would isolate (myself) a lot. Now, I think I live my life for them,” Turner said.

“I want them to see me having a social life and enjoying work and thriving in my career and relationships. I want them to see a hard-working mum,” Turner added. “I’ll come back and say, ‘This is why Mummy was away – it’s because she’s doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents.'”

Turner, who developed an eating disorder due to the pressures she faced as a child star growing up on the set of “Game of Thrones,” also said part of her parenting involves instilling healthy habits in her children.

“The great thing about being a mother is that I get to teach my kids how to have a healthy relationship with their bodies, which feels like a justice to myself,” she said.

Sophie Turner admits relationship with Peregrine Pearson happened ‘very quickly’

Being back in her homeland isn’t the only thing lifting Turner’s spirits after her divorce.

“We’re very happy,” she said when asked about Peregrine Pearson, a British aristocrat she’s been linked to since October 2023. She went Instagram official with him in January.

“It came around very quickly. I just needed to go on a date to know how to do it again. That was the first date and the last date, and it’s been great,” Turner said. “He’s lovely. He’s funny, and he brings out the cheeky side of me, the fun side. He lights me back up.”

On Sunday, she dedicated an 11-slide Instagram post to her “angel pie” boyfriend on his 30th birthday. A few days later, she appeared to chastise people who made judgments in the comments.

“Hey guys, I would love if there was no hate towards ANYONE in these comment sections. Love you 😘,” Turner commented.
