Special Counsel Jack Smith Presents Convincing Evidence Against Trump

Read the report: Special counsel Jack Smith claims he had enough evidence to convict Trump

WASHINGTON − On Tuesday, special counsel Jack Smith released a report where he justified the decision to charge President-elect Donald Trump with unlawfully attempting to overturn the 2020 election results. He noted that the charges were dropped after Trump’s victory in the general election that took place in November.

In this extensive report, Smith contended that his office possessed sufficient evidence that could have led to a conviction if the case had proceeded to trial. He sought to dismiss the case after Trump’s election in accordance with a Justice Department policy that bars the prosecution of a sitting president.

In response to the report, Trump criticized Smith on Truth Social, labeling him as “deranged” and asserting that evidence was destroyed that could have demonstrated his innocence.

“Jack is a brainless prosecutor who couldn’t get his case heard before the election, which I won overwhelmingly. THE VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN!!!” Trump declared.

Smith submitted his resignation on Friday, just days prior to Trump’s inauguration. He had been appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022 to lead two inquiries into Trump’s actions.

Smith has also compiled a report on another investigation concerning allegations of Trump improperly handling classified documents after his first term as president. This report is yet to be made public.
