McDonald’s reintroduces Spicy Chicken McNuggets to its menu
McDonald’s is spicing up its offerings with the return of Spicy Chicken McNuggets.
The nuggets feature a crispy tempura batter and are flavored with cayenne and chili pepper, marking their return after a regional release in 2022.
These spicy nuggets come with a dipping sauce that includes crushed red pepper, spicy chilis, and garlic. Starting Monday, Nov. 4, they are available at select locations, including Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New York, and others. Customers can choose from six, ten, twenty, or thirty-piece orders.
Initially introduced in September 2020, these nuggets have been a popular item on the menu, according to McDonald’s.
Spicy Chicken McNuggets were the very first new flavor added to McNuggets since their launch in 1983 and have seen multiple limited-time offerings since 2020.
This temporary menu addition arrives as McDonald’s is looking to recover from an E. coli outbreak linked to onions in Quarter Pounders, which sickened 90 individuals and resulted in one fatality. The chain has also experienced a slight decline over the past year.
Competitors like KFC and Wendy’s have also added spicier nuggets to their menus, with KFC introducing them in April and Wendy’s following in June.
