Get ready to dress appropriately for your next Spirit Airlines flight.

The low-cost airline has revised its contract of carriage to clarify the types of attire and body art that may be prohibited on their flights.

As per the updated contract, which is effective from January 22, 2025:

“Guests may be denied boarding or asked to leave the aircraft if they are barefoot or dressed inappropriately (e.g., see-through clothing; insufficient coverage; visible breasts, buttocks, or other private areas), or if their clothing or body art is deemed lewd, obscene, or offensive.”

In October of last year, two women from California were reportedly removed from a Spirit flight for wearing crop tops. At that time, the airline commented to YSL News, “Our Contract of Carriage, which all guests accept when they book with us, includes specific clothing guidelines that apply to everyone flying with us.”

Previously, the contract mentioned that passengers could be refused boarding or asked to leave if they were “barefoot or inadequately clothed, or if their attire is lewd, obscene, or offensive.” However, it did not provide specific examples or mention body art.
