‘SNL’ features Ariana Grande, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, and John Mulaney for 50th Season
“Saturday Night Live” is set to return with both new and familiar faces to celebrate its landmark 50th season.
The beloved NBC sketch show has revealed the hosts and musical guests for the initial five episodes, with Ariana Grande making her hosting comeback and leaving an open spot for Stevie Nicks as a musical guest.
Other notable hosts will include “Hacks” actress Jean Smart, comedian John Mulaney, Nate Bargatze, and Michael Keaton. Musical acts slated to perform in the early episodes comprise Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Jelly Roll, and Coldplay.
The season premiere of “SNL” is on September 28.
Grande, who appeared as a musical guest in Season 49, participated in a musical sketch inspired by “Moulin Rouge” alongside cast member Bowen Yang. She is also preparing for the release of “Wicked,” a two-part musical film featuring Cynthia Erivo, set to debut on November 27.
Additionally, Smart is making a return after winning Emmys for her role in the Max comedy, while Keaton is currently enjoying the spotlight for his “Beetlejuice” activities.
The 50th season is anticipated to be lively, especially with the upcoming 2024 general elections. “SNL” veteran Maya Rudolph will reprise her role as Vice President Kamala Harris, facing off against James Austin Johnson, who will portray former President Donald Trump.
The show will introduce three new featured players this season: Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline, while Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney, and Chloe Troast will not return this fall.
