Starbucks Eliminates Oleato Olive Oil Drinks from Menu
If you enjoy Starbucks’ Oleato beverages, make sure to order them soon. The coffee shop will be removing olive oil-infused drinks from their menu starting in early November.
Starbucks introduced Oleato beverages first in Italy in February 2023 before bringing them to U.S. locations in January 2024. These drinks feature Partanna brand extra virgin olive oil, and you could also enhance cold beverages with an option called Oleato Golden Foam.
The Oleato concept came from Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, who experimented with mixing coffee and the Mediterranean habit of adding a spoonful of olive oil to various dishes. This experiment resulted in a “luxurious velvet extraordinary flavor … (that) enhances every single hot and cold beverage,” as he described in a video on Starbucks’ site.
Oleato Drinks Received Mixed Feedback
One Starbucks enthusiast on Instagram labeled the Oleato Golden Foam Iced Shaken Espresso with Toffeenut syrup as their “new favorite drink,” stating it is “creamy, foamy, sweet and rich,” enhanced by olive oil without being overpowering.
While some customers praised the Oleato drinks, others criticized them for their effects.
“Starbucks is indeed phasing out its Oleato beverage line infused with olive oil next month, so for those who need an extra laxative in the mornings, you’ll have to find it elsewhere,” Jonathan Maze, editor-in-chief at Restaurant Business Magazine, tweeted.
Returning to Basics at Starbucks
Starbucks confirmed to YSL News that the drinks will be removed in early November. The decision to discontinue them was made before the arrival of new CEO Brian Niccol, who took over from Laxman Narasimhan last month.
Nevertheless, this decision aligns with Niccol’s “Back to Starbucks” initiative, unveiled last week on the company’s website. He stated, “We will simplify our overly complex menu, address our pricing structure, and ensure that every customer feels Starbucks is worth it every single time they visit.”
Starbucks Unveils New ‘Wicked’ Beverages
If you’re seeking a fresh drink at Starbucks, the coffee chain recently introduced two new beverages inspired by Universal Pictures’ upcoming release of “Wicked”: Glinda’s Pink Potion, a Dragonfruit Starbucks Refresher, and Elphaba’s Cold Brew, a cold brew with peppermint syrup.
