The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a recall for more than 21,000 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles because of a brake pedal problem.
Stellantis, the company that owns Chrysler, is recalling a total of 21,069 vehicles from the 2024-2025 model years of the Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale.
According to the NHTSA report, the brake pedal could collapse, resulting in a loss of braking ability. This situation may lead to a higher chance of an accident.
This report was filed on October 9.
Frank Matyok, a Stellantis spokesperson, informed YSL News that the company has received reports of 15 incidents globally, including one crash, though no injuries have been reported.
Matyok also explained that if the brake pedal disengages while driving, owners can:
“In that case, the Electronic Park Brake, located on the center console, can be engaged to gradually slow down the vehicle to a stop,” he stated. “Additionally, the Automatic Emergency Braking system will activate automatically, unless it has been turned off, when a collision appears imminent.”
As a remedy, dealers will strengthen the brake pedal arm at no cost. Notification letters regarding the recall are expected to be sent out by October 24. Owners can reach out to FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403, with the recall number B7B.
Matyok mentioned that there are also other affected vehicles that are being recalled:
- Canada: 2,299 vehicles
- Mexico: 145 vehicles
- Other markets outside North America: 20,987 vehicles
Vehicles being recalled (21,069 total):
- 2024-2025 Dodge Hornet
- 2024-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale
Ram 1500 recall for rearview mirror detachment
Stellantis has also issued a recall for 31,676 of its 2020-2023 Ram 1500 Classic models equipped with heated trailer tow mirrors.
The NHTSA report states that “the glass on the driver’s side heated trailer tow mirror may detach.” If the mirror glass comes off, it can obstruct the driver’s view and raise the likelihood of an accident.
This report was filed on October 10.
Furthermore, the agency noted that the Ram 1500 does not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, which pertains to rear visibility.
To resolve this, dealers will replace the mirror glass free of charge. Recall notification letters are expected by December 5. Owners can call FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403, and the recall number is 86B.
Vehicles covered in this recall (31,676 total):
- 2020-2023 Ram 1500
