Stu Cook, bassist for Creedence Clearwater Revival, puts his waterfront home on the market for $10 million
Stu Cook, the bassist from Creedence Clearwater Revival, has put his stunning waterfront estate in Sarasota up for sale, with an asking price close to $10 million, as noted in a press announcement from Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.
In 2013, Cook and his wife, Dana, bought the residence located at 3638 San Remo Terrace for $2.95 million, later placing it in a family trust in 2017, as indicated by property records from Sarasota County.
The property was officially listed for $9.975 million on Tuesday by Joel Schemmel of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.
Covering 0.36-acres, the estate features a four-bedroom, five-bathroom modern home crafted by architect Carl Abbott. Renowned for his skill in harmonizing luxury with nature, Abbott’s design incorporates a Zen-like waterfront ambiance into the Cook residence, per the promotional materials.
Situated in San Remo Estates, just off the mainland close to the northern bridge to Siesta Key, this 4,550-square-foot home showcases “impressive curb appeal with a sprawling travertine pathway and a tranquil Zen garden,” according to the marketing content.
The estate also offers engineered white oak flooring, a marble fireplace, a heated pool, a spa, and a fitness studio.
“This exceptional estate embodies modern architectural brilliance,” Schemmel stated in the news release. “Every aspect has been carefully designed to provide a superior living experience, reflecting a notable musical heritage.”
While the asking price of just under $10 million is high, the home, completed in 2002, is unlikely to break any records in the Sarasota real estate market. Last year, a property in the Harbor Acres neighborhood near downtown sold for $20 million, establishing the record for single-family homes in Sarasota County.
Additionally, a double-unit condo at St. Regis Longboat Key surpassed the $20 million mark last year when Vail Properties LLC acquired a renovated 10,800-square-foot condo in the area’s latest luxury resort for $21.2 million in September.
Cook is not the only celebrity to have lived in this part of Florida.
Since 1911, when circus mogul John Ringling and his wife, Mable, arrived, Sarasota and Manatee counties have drawn numerous affluent and famous individuals from various backgrounds.
Notable former residents range from Rock and Roll Hall of Famers like Dickey Betts and Gregg Allman (co-founders of the Allman Brothers Band) to disco legend Donna Summer (who lived on Manasota Key Road), as well as Donald “Duck” Dunn (bassist for Booker T. & the M.G.’s and The Blues Brothers, who resided on Snead Island in Palmetto) and Jerry Wexler (producer for iconic albums by Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Bob Dylan, who lived on Siesta Key).
Currently, the region is home to several well-known musicians, including Brian Johnson from AC/DC, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, along with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, as noted by previous reports from the Herald-Tribune.
