Pirelli’s 2025 Calendar Featuring Padma Lakshmi, John Boyega, and Hunter Schafer
Among the notable figures in Pirelli’s 2025 calendar are “Bridgerton” star Simone Ashley, “Star Wars” leading man John Boyega, and “Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer, capturing everyone’s attention.
On Tuesday evening, Pirelli, the Italian tire producer, unveiled its 51st edition of The Cal at an event held at the Natural History Museum in London. This year’s calendar features its renowned stars in various states of undress and transparent outfits, photographed both in a studio and at Miami’s Virginia Key Beach Park.
The 2025 calendar’s theme, “refresh and reveal,” was selected by photographer Ethan James Green. He shared with Reuters, “It’s exciting to revisit the topic of nudity and sensuality in photography because our perception of beauty has evolved and broadened significantly.”
“We cannot truly express ourselves better than when we’re naked,” he further asserted to CNN.
Also featured in The Cal are Padma Lakshmi, known for her role on “Top Chef,” actress Jodie Turner-Smith from “Queen & Slim,” and Jung Hoyeon from “Squid Game.” They are joined by models Connie Fleming and Jenny Shimizu, artist Martine Gutierrez, French actor Vincent Cassel, and Italian singer Elodie Di Patrizi.
Photographer Green, who also appears in 24 photos in The Cal, is recognized as a prominent figure in fashion photography, praised for his “intimate portraits that highlight the true essence of his subjects,” according to the press release from Pirelli.
What is Pirelli’s Calendar?
The company states that The Cal “originated as a unique project” initiated by their British branch in 1964 to create a marketing strategy that would set the brand apart from competitors.
The calendar was originally intended as a gift for the tire manufacturer’s clients.
According to Pirelli, the aim of The Cal is to “celebrate the passage of time through striking images from the most esteemed photographers, capturing and interpreting modern culture while often predicting new trends.”
In recent years, notable personalities like Idris Elba, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kristen Stewart, Rosalía, Emma Watson, Cher, and Iggy Pop have graced The Cal.
The Cal’s rich history over six decades includes iconic moments such as British photographer Terence Donovan’s work featuring only Black models, including rising star Naomi Campbell, in 1987.
The creative direction for the 2011 calendar was handled by Karl Lagerfeld, while acclaimed portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz was the lens behind the editions in 2000 and 2016.
