Goodbye to breakfast burritos: Some Taco Bells to drop breakfast menu

Taco Bell announces that a ‘small’ number of locations will phase out breakfast starting in October, yet insists that the company remains ‘dedicated’ to breakfast offerings and is enhancing its coffee service.

Some Taco Bell outlets will stop offering breakfast in the next few months.

A “small minority” of franchisee-operated Taco Bell locations have opted to eliminate breakfast to “streamline” their menus, as stated by Taco Bell in a communication to YSL News on Friday.

This menu adjustment will affect an undisclosed number of restaurants in various U.S. markets starting in October. However, the 500 company-owned Taco Bell restaurants out of 8,500 will continue serving breakfast.

Taco Bell has allowed its franchisees to choose whether to keep breakfast on their menus, which grants both sides “the flexibility to prioritize key growth areas,” Taco Bell noted.

“Taco Bell continually adjusts our menu to better cater to our franchisees, employees, and customers,” the company explained. “Despite this, breakfast will still be available in the majority of Taco Bell locations since only a small percentage have opted out.”

Taco Bell’s commitment to breakfast remains strong

Taco Bell emphasizes that breakfast is significant to the company, confidently claiming that its breakfast offerings are improving and that the breakfast items’ “performance continues to enhance through Q2 2024.”

“Our Breakfast Crunchwraps and Breakfast Burritos are straightforward yet desirable,” Taco Bell stated in a release. “That’s why we are keeping breakfast available in most of our restaurants, including all company-owned locations.”

By giving franchises the choice to remove breakfast, Taco Bell is responding to feedback and evolving to support overall expansion, according to the company.

This also enables franchise Taco Bell locations to prioritize menu items that their local communities desire or shift their focus to other meal times such as lunch and the new Cantina Chicken Menu, according to Taco Bell.

Taco Bell plans to enhance its coffee program and will continue testing new breakfast options in its company stores following “this breakfast reset moment.”

<p”All Taco Bell locations, regardless of their decision on breakfast, will open at 9 a.m. or earlier and will offer the complete menu,” Taco Bell stated.
