Target reintroduces its popular car seat trade-in program this fall: Important dates for discounts
Customers can receive a 20% discount on select products by trading in their old car seats during the promotion from September 15 to 28, with a redemption period until October 12.
The much-anticipated Target car seat trade-in event is set to return for the fall of 2024. Customers who turn in their old car seat or base will be eligible for a 20% discount on a new car seat, stroller, or select baby products.
This event will commence on Sunday, September 15 and continue through Saturday, September 28.
To take advantage of this offer, customers need to drop off their old car seats at designated drop-off boxes located near Guest Services in Target stores.
After that, they will scan a QR code found next to the drop-off points to receive their Target Circle Bonus.
As per Target’s website, customers will have until October 12 to utilize their 20% off discount, which can be applied two times.
What types of car seats can be traded in at Target?
Target accepts all kinds of car seats, including infant car seats, convertible car seats, car seat bases, harnessed seats, and booster seats. They will also accept car seats that are expired or damaged.
What happens to the old car seats that are collected?
The materials from the traded-in car seats are repurposed into new products such as pallets, plastic containers, steel beams, and carpet padding, according to the company. This car seat recycling initiative occurs twice annually and aligns with Target’s goal of achieving zero waste in landfills by 2030.
Since the program started in 2016, Target reports that over 3 million car seats and 45 million pounds of car seat materials have been recycled.
Are all Target locations participating in the program?
Most Target stores will be part of this program, except for certain small-format locations.
Target suggests that customers check with their local store for more specific details.
