During her first performance on the Canadian leg of her Eras Tour on Thursday, Taylor Swift expressed gratitude to her audience for their support which led to her receiving six Grammy nominations.

“I’m always pushing myself to play songs you might enjoy,” she told the crowd at Rogers Centre, packed with enthusiastic fans. “I decided to start with a song from this album because you all achieved something incredible.”

As she played her guitar, she left the fans in suspense, saying she wrote material for her 11th era during the tour while keeping it under wraps, turning the set list into “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“This is very emotional for me,” she shared. “You have all been amazing in embracing this album and really connecting with its message, helping it stay No. 1 for almost four months.”

Dressed in a playful fish dress adorned with orange, white, and blue, she seamlessly blended “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” with “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” from her “Reputation” album.

“Forgiveness is the right thing to do,” she sang, sharing her distinctive laugh during the song, prompting laughter from the audience. “This is why we can’t have nice things, darling,” she continued after a comedic pause.

Moving to the piano, she seated herself, and the fans erupted in chants of “Taylor, Taylor, Taylor” She pulled out her ear monitors and remarked, “This is why everyone adores Canadians. You are a perfect example.”

As she returned to the keys, she combined “False God” from “Lover” with “‘Tis the Damn Season” from “Evermore.” The latter song was removed from the set for the second year of the tour to accommodate the “Tortured Poets” selection.

There are seven tracks from her 11 albums that have never been performed live:

• “Fearless”: “That’s When” and “Bye Bye Baby”
• “Red”: “Girl At Home,” “Ronan,” and “Forever Winter”
• “Lover”: “Soon You’ll Get Better”
• “The Tortured Poets Department”: “Cassandra”

In her acoustic segment, her most frequently performed songs include “You’re On Your Own, Kid” (10 times), “Maroon” (9 times), “Death by a Thousand Cuts” (6 times), “Out of the Woods” (6 times), and “Clean” (6 times).

At the beginning of the show on Thursday night, Swift confirmed that these nine Canadian concerts will conclude her tour. She has five more shows in Toronto before moving to Vancouver, finishing on December 8.
