Taylor Swift donates millions for Hurricane Milton and Helene relief efforts

Taylor Swift has made a significant donation to support relief efforts for Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The renowned singer gave $5 million to Feeding America, a nationwide food bank organization, in response to the widespread devastation and loss of life caused by the storms in southeastern United States.

“We are extremely thankful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million contribution for the relief efforts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of the charity, in a statement shared on Instagram Wednesday. “This donation will assist communities in rebuilding and recovering by providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to those affected by these catastrophic storms. Together, we can truly make a difference in aiding families as they face the challenges ahead.”

Babineaux-Fontenot also expressed gratitude by stating: “Thank you, Taylor, for supporting our mission to eliminate hunger and for assisting communities in need.”

34-year-old Swift is known for her philanthropic activities, which have included substantial donations to a tornado relief fund in Tennessee and a food bank in Kansas City.

The financial losses from Hurricane Helene’s devastation in the southeastern U.S. are anticipated to exceed $30 billion, according to an assessment by the financial and consumer analytics firm CoreLogic. Recently, the YSL News Network reported that the death toll from Helene has risen to 228.

Simultaneously, Hurricane Milton made landfall late Wednesday along Florida’s western coastline as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph, causing multiple tornadoes. The National Hurricane Center announced early Thursday that the storm was moving out of Florida near Cape Canaveral, now downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane with 85 mph winds.

At least two fatalities have been reported in a retirement home following a suspected tornado in Fort Pierce on Florida’s east coast, according to NBC News citing St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson. YSL News reported that over 3.2 million homes and businesses faced power outages by early Thursday.
